Subaru of America and OnStar today announced an agreement to offer OnStar in-vehicle safety, security and information services to Subaru customers beginning with the 2003 Outback.
"The inclusion of a premium driver safety and communications system like OnStar further differentiates Subaru in a highly competitive marketplace," said T. K. Saito, chairman and CEO of Subaru of America, Inc. "Having access to OnStar adds greatly to the confidence that comes from driving a Subaru."
OnStar will initially be available as a standard feature on the top of the line 2003 Outback, the Subaru flagship of its popular all-wheel drive vehicles. OnStar-equipped Outback vehicles will include a one-year subscription to OnStar's safety and security services. Eventually the availability of OnStar will be expanded to other Subaru models.
