Metro Detroit Ford Dealers Bring the Stars of Ford Racing to Motown

    DEARBORN, Mich., May 31 The 31 Metro Detroit Ford Dealers
will once again offer fans the opportunity to get up-close with racing's
biggest names at the fourth annual Ford Racing Fan Appreciation Day on
Thursday, June 7.  The event returns to Fairgrounds Park at the Michigan State
Fairgrounds where it was held since 1998.
    This free event kicks off race-week festivities preceding the Kmart 400 at
Michigan International Speedway.  Free tickets to Ford Racing Fan Appreciation
Day are available at any of the 31 Metro Detroit Ford dealers, from May 18
through June 7.
    Ford drivers scheduled to attend include 1999 Winston Cup Champion Dale
Jarrett, Mark Martin, Ricky Rudd, Jeff Burton, Elliott Sadler, Matt Kenseth,
Rusty Wallace, Jeremy Mayfield and NHRA legend John Force.  The drivers will
sign autographs throughout the event from 4:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and field
questions from fans during scheduled question-and-answer sessions.  As
schedules permit other Ford drivers may be added.
    Fans attending the event will have the exclusive opportunity to witness
the unveiling of the car that changed the world as Ford continues to celebrate
its 100 years in racing at this year's event.
    In addition fans will be able to see NASCAR show cars and purchase Ford
and individual team merchandise.  Fans can participate in interactive racing
displays, including video games from GameWorks Ford Racing Zone and the pit
crew challenge from the Sports Illustrated for Kids exhibit.  There will be
race ticket giveaways, pit crew demonstrations, clowns, children's attractions
and production and concept vehicles.  Attendees can also enjoy rocking to the
music of the Teen Angels.
    Fans unable to visit their local Metro Detroit Ford Dealer can buy tickets
the day of the event for $10 with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen
