Traffic.com Changing Name to Mobility Technologies

WAYNE, Pa.--May 31, 2001--Traffic.com announced today that it is taking on the new corporate name of Mobility Technologies, Inc. The new name will better reflect the company's technological focus on developing solutions to meet the time-sensitive mobility needs of commuters, commercial drivers, business professionals and government agencies.
The company also announced the launch of its new business-to-business Web site, www.mobilitytechnologies.com.
"Our company is about change - changing the way traffic information is gathered, processed and distributed; changing the competitive landscape; and changing the way Americans can deal with traffic congestion, " said Richard P. Ramirez, President & CEO of Mobility Technologies. "As our company has broadened its lines of business, grown its customer base, expanded its product and service line, and enhanced its technology arsenal, we have fundamentally outgrown the concept of being just a traffic provider or a Web site; our new name, Mobility Technologies, better illustrates our broadened scope. Traffic.com has served us well, and will continue to be a valuable consumer brand."
Mr. Ramirez added, "Mobility Technologies is about transportation solutions that are derived from the most accurate, timely traffic information available. We don't just tell you that you're stuck in traffic; our actionable information tells you how to deal with it. The new name highlights our core competency as an ITS-focused technology company that has differentiated itself from other traditional traffic gatherers; it also broadens our distribution focus beyond the Internet to encompass wireless and broadcast media."
Mobility Technologies will be the overarching corporate umbrella to the company's core lines of business, including Traffic Pulse Networks, a provider of digital and traditional traffic programming to select broadcasters; Enterprise Solutions, for commercial fleet carriers, time-sensitive delivery operations and mobile sales forces; Telematics Solutions, for auto manufacturers, tier one suppliers, and content providers; Intelligent Transportation Solutions for public sector agencies; and Commuter Solutions, which will retain Traffic.com as the company's consumer brand, along with its respective Web site (www.traffic.com), which will remain the company's consumer portal.
The company's Digital Traffic Pulse(SM) sensor network was recently cited by U.S. Representative Robert A. Borski, in a statement before the House Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, as an example of new technology that will help motorists "better plan their routes to avoid congestion and delays." Similarly, the company has been identified in recent articles in "U.S. News & World Report" and "Business 2.0" as a key solution to traffic congestion.
Mobility Technologies already has deployed its Digital Traffic Pulse sensor network in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia; the company plans to launch the sensor network in more than 40 of the nation's top metropolitan areas.
The roadside network is a world class Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) that was developed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation. It provides a level of accuracy and reliability never before achieved in the measurement of traffic flow, generating lane-by-lane data on traffic speed, volume and density, which is then transmitted wirelessly to the company's Data Center every 60 seconds, around the clock.

    About Mobility Technologies:

Mobility Technologies, headquartered in Wayne, PA, is creating America's premier traffic information franchise with its Digital Traffic Pulse sensor network, an Advanced Traffic Information Service (ATIS). The network continually measures traffic flow on major highways to provide motorists with accurate, real-time information such as actual speeds and point-to-point travel times.
Information is distributed on the company's interactive Web site (www.traffic.com) and featured on select radio and television broadcasts as "Traffic Pulse". In addition to the company's two digitally networked cities (Pittsburgh and Philadelphia), its Web-based service is also currently available in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Detroit, Baltimore, and Tampa. Motorists in these and future markets will soon have access to wireless services that will include personalized traffic updates and alert messages; ultimately, Mobility Technologies' real-time information will be transmitted directly to drivers in their vehicles through on-board telematics devices.
