Visteon Helps Bring Green Back to Detroit Public Schools

    DEARBORN, Mich., May 30 A $250,000 donation today from
Visteon Corporation will help bring butterflies and hummingbirds to
habitats at several Detroit Public Schools.  As part of the Detroit 300 Legacy
of Trees program, Visteon's contribution will aid in the construction of 10
Schoolyard Habitats within community reinvestment sectors in Detroit.

environmental behavior," said Visteon Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Peter J. Pestillo, during a special ceremony at Detroit's Pershing High
School.  "This contribution ensures a permanent legacy that will provide
beauty and enjoyment for years to come through the creation of green spaces in
the city of Detroit."
    Present to receive the check from Pestillo were Edsel B. Ford II, chairman
of the Detroit 300 Commission, and Detroit Public Schools Chief Executive
Officer Kenneth Burnley.
    In addition to providing monetary support for the Legacy of Trees program,
50 Visteon employees will volunteer assistance during tree-planting activities
at schoolyards throughout Detroit.

development counsel and events director, Detroit 300.
    The Detroit 300 Legacy of Trees, in conjunction with The Greening of
Detroit, a non-profit tree-planting organization, proposes to make Detroit
known as the "City of Trees" by planting 1,701 trees to commemorate the city's
tri-centennial birthday.
