Federal-Mogul Denies GKN Acquisition Rumor

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 29 In response to an
unsubstantiated news article that appeared Sunday in a United Kingdom
newspaper, Federal-Mogul Corporation today denies that there is
any truth to that article or to subsequent news reports that GKN has made an
unsolicited bid to purchase the company.  Federal-Mogul has not had any
discussion with GKN on the acquisition of the company nor does Federal-Mogul
anticipate such discussions.
