Tokyo Metal Stamping Association Selects Solid Edge 3-D Mechanical CAD System From UGS for Japan's National IT Training Program

CYPRESS, Calif., May 29 UGS , today announces
that the Tokyo Metal Stamping Association has selected Solid Edge as its
mechanical 3D CAD software system to quickly teach 3-D CAD courses under the
national Information Technology (IT) training program initiated by the
Japanese government. The IT training program is held as part of the Japanese
government's "IT for the People Movement."
A key objective of the course is to increase productivity in design by
using Solid Edge. The program is expected to benefit 240 member companies of
the Tokyo Metal Stamping Association. The course schedule, originally set to
run once a month, has been expanded due to demand and is now being run once a
week.
"I believe Solid Edge to be a very suitable 3-D software system to
demonstrate the rapid promotion of IT and applications within the
manufacturing industry under the Japanese government's IT for the People
Movement," says Kiyoshi Ito, Executive Managing Director of the Tokyo Metal
Stamping Association. "The Tokyo Metal Stamping Association expects hundreds
of engineers engaged in Japan's manufacturing industry can quickly acquire
state-of-the-art 3-D CAD skills and knowledge by attending the short three-day
course using Solid Edge."
The Tokyo Metal Stamping Association spent three months benchmarking all
major 3-D mechanical CAD systems. Solid Edge came out top of the evaluation,
being the easiest system to learn and use. As a result, it was chosen as the
most suitable CAD system for the course.
"Solid Edge has already been introduced to our company," says Hiroshi
Barada, President of the Metal Stamping Center Barada Seisakusho Co., Ltd.
( http://www.nuitemage.com ). "Compared to other 3-D mechanical CAD systems,
we found Solid Edge has excellent, easy-to-use sheet metal design functions.
I have seen the real benefits of its use at our company. Through this short
course, I think the benefits for Japanese engineers taking the training can be
realized not only by our company, but by all participating manufacturing
companies in Japan who can get a taste of Solid Edge's productivity," says
Hiroshi Barada, who also is contributing his time to the project as a course
lecturer.

About the Tokyo Metal Stamping Association
