Lynx - Senske Lime Rock Results
THE FASTEST GIRL IN LIME ROCK
PART 2 - Race Results
Lynx Racing driver Sara Senske today scored the best finish of her Barber
Dodge Pro Series career with a 6th place in the rain at Lime Rock during
Race 1 of a two race weekend. She also won the Conseco "Step Up" award for
her march up through the field from her 14th place qualifying spot.
The first of the two events, won by Ryan Hunter-Reay, was run in a
steady, heavy rainfall. Matt Plumb took second place honors ahead of third
place finisher Roger Yasakawa.
"It was a great race, not just because of the result but because of
what I learned about racing in these kind of condition," says Sesnke, 21,
of Kennewick, Washington. "I got a littke over-eager in the opening laps
and went off the road, but I got back on, drove as smoothly as I could and
just picked off one car at a time. No telling what the weather will be for
the second race of the weekend on Monday, but with this kind of
psychological boost, I'm ready to go racing."
In the second race, held on a sunny Memorial Day, Senske started
the race in 15th and moved up several places before spinning off course
while trying to make a pass on the outside. She re-joined at the back of
the pack and was able to pass nine cars and work her way back up to 11th at
the checkered flag. The race was won by Dutchman Sepp Koster, who held off
a determined charge from Race 1 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay.
"It was a busy race, and even though I finished 11th I'm really
happy with being able to come up through the pack," said Senske. "I feel
like I learned a lot this weekend, and that I'm getting closer to that
psychological breakthrough that will help me run up front with the fast
guys."
ESPN2 will broadcast Race 1 action on Tuesday, June 26 at 6:00PM
EST. Race 2 will air Tuesday, July 3 at 6:00 pm EST. The next event on
the Barber Dodge Pro Series calendar is June 7 - 8 with CART through the
streets of Detroit.
