Undesirable Conditions Plague Law in Lime Rock GT Race
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lime Rock, Connecticut (May 26, 2001) - The Lime Rock Grand Prix GT race ran under less-than-desirable conditions for the Grand-Am Rolex Series drivers and teams. G&W Motorsports driver, Darren Law, along with the remainder of the GT field, was relieved to see the checkered flag at the end of the 125-mile race. Law piloted the #81 Motorola/Commscope/G&W Motorsports Porsche to finish sixth in class.
"It was a tough race," Law said. "At times, you couldn't see more than ten feet in front of you with the heavy fog and rain. We are just fortunate we kept the car on the track and finished the race safely."
In addition to the rainy, foggy weather, the #81 machine had some serious handling problems, which kept speeds down. The dangerous track conditions also kept Law from excelling to the car's full potential.
The sixth-place finish continues to help Law and G&W Motorsports to achieve the goal of winning the driver and team championships.
"Although the race didn't go as we had planned, we are still focusing on our main goal, which are the 2001 championships. As long as we cross the finish line at the end of the race, we are adding to our end-of-the-year points."
Law will return to racing action at Mid-Ohio in two weeks.
