CHARLOTTE--General Mills and Petty Enterprises announced today that BuzzBee, the Honey Nut Cheerios bee, will co-pilot John Andretti's No. 43 Dodge Intrepid for the Brickyard 400 on August 5, 2001, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The No. 43 will feature a Honey Nut Cheerios paint scheme that resembles a bee, with BuzzBee featured on the hood.
"This is a really fun car," said Andretti. "My family and I are big fans of Honey Nut Cheerios so I'm sure my children will love this car. It will be a lot of fun to have Buzzbee along for the ride and it should create quite a 'buzz' at the track."
In addition to the Honey Nut Cheerios car running in the Brickyard 400, kids attending Speed Street in Charlotte can register to win a ride to school in the Honey Nut Cheerios No. 43 this fall.
"We are really excited about this car," said Laurie Greeno, Vice President of Motorsports for General Mills. "A few times each season we are able to run a few 'fun' paint schemes and this Honey Nut Cheerios No. 43 is just that."
Honey Nut Cheerios is a product of General Mills, primary sponsor of Petty Enterprises' legendary No. 43. Other General Mills sponsors include Cheerios, Betty Crocker, Hamburger Helper, Pop Secret and Bisquick.
