INDIANAPOLIS - Jaques Lazier will drive for TeamXtreme Racing at the Indy Racing Northern Light Series events in June at Texas Motor Speedway and Pikes Peak International Raceway, the team announced.
Lazier is making his first start of the season Sunday in the Indianapolis 500 in the No. 77 Classmates.com/Jonathan Byrd's Cafeteria G Force/Oldsmobile/Firestone. He is starting 15th, with teammate Airton Dare starting 30th in the 1-800-BAR NONE TeamXtreme G Force/Oldsmobile/Firestone.
Lazier, younger brother of 1996 Indianapolis 500 winner Buddy Lazier, will stay with TeamXtreme as a teammate to Dare for the Casino Magic 500 on June 9 at Texas Motor Speedway and the Radisson Indy 200 on June 17 at Pikes Peak International Raceway, not far from Lazier's hometown of Vail, Colo.
"I am excited to run with Airton and TeamXtreme for the next two races," Lazier said. "We had a great qualifying session together here at Indy, and now we look forward to a great showing in the race. We have already learned so much from each other as drivers, and we both did very well in last season's TMS race.
"I have a feeling we will dominate in Texas."
"TeamXtreme has provided me with the ability to run at three of my favorite venues. Obviously, racing here at Indy is a great opportunity for me, and I really like the facility in Texas. But I can't wait to race back home in Colorado."
