Hayes Lemmerz Czech Republic Operations Earns Ford Q1

    NORTHVILLE, Mich., May 24 Hayes Lemmerz International,
Inc. , announced today that its aluminum wheel facility located in
Ostrava, Czech Republic has achieved Ford Motor Company's Q1 Award.  The Q1
Award is presented to Ford suppliers who have achieved a sustained level of
excellence in customer satisfaction by meeting the automaker's requirements
for quality, delivery, materials management and engineering.

    A Q1 plaque and flag were presented at a ceremony held recently at the
Czech Republic facility.
    "Achieving the Ford Q1 rating is a very significant accomplishment for
this facility," said Giancarlo Dallera, President of Hayes Lemmerz European
Wheel Group.  "Not only does the award validate our commitment to continuous
improvement and quality, it reinforces our dedication to a long and
