AIADA Applauds Senate Passage of Tax Bill; Includes Death Tax Repeal

WASHINGTON, May 24 After nearly three days of debate, the
Senate overwhelmingly approved a $1.35 trillion tax package, which includes a
provision to repeal the death tax.
"We are elated that the Senate bill includes death tax repeal," said
Richard Kull, chairman of the American International Automobile Dealers
Association (AIADA). "This is an issue dealers have fought long and hard for.
The death tax can be a death sentence for many of this country's automobile
dealers because many dealerships are family owned."
On Wednesday, AIADA members descended on Capitol Hill urging Congress to
maintain the death tax provision in the final version of the bill. More than
700 automobile dealers were in town this week in conjunction with AIADA's
Automotive Congress, the largest grassroots lobbying event in the automotive
industry.
"We were successful in fighting several attempts in the Senate to strip
death tax repeal from the bill, but the battle is not over yet," said Kull.
"We will continue to maintain the pressure to repeal this onerous tax and will
not stop until this fight is over."
