ECD Honored for Its Outstanding Contributions
In Advanced Manufacturing Technology by the State of
Michigan
TROY, Mich., May 24 Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD)
announced today that, at an award ceremony honoring top
Michigan organizations and leaders, the State of Michigan has honored ECD for
its "outstanding contributions" in advanced manufacturing technology. The
award was part of the State of Michigan Business Success Celebration
recognizing "true standouts in Michigan's business community."
The award ceremony was held at Michigan's Capitol Rotunda to honor
businesses and business leaders. The award acknowledges the successful
development by ECD of "a range of technologies, including both products and
advanced manufacturing processes, primarily within the fields of energy and
information processing." The State of Michigan specifically noted that ECD's
innovations and recent partnerships with N.V. Bekaert S.A. (Bekaert ECD Solar
Systems/United Solar Systems Corp.) and Texaco Energy Systems Inc. (Texaco
Ovonic Fuel Cell and Texaco Ovonic Hydrogen Storage) have contributed to the
economic viability of the State.
Commenting on the award, Stanford R. Ovshinsky, CEO of ECD, and Robert C.
Stempel, Chairman, in a joint statement, said, "We are pleased that our work
over the years in advanced manufacturing technology has been recognized and we
