Permatex(R) and Dow Automotive's Essex ARG to Enter Exclusive Marketing Relationship

    DAYTON, Ohio, May 24 Essex ARG entered into an exclusive
agreement with Permatex, Inc., Hartford, CT, to market automotive glass repair
products through an alliance between Essex ARG and Permatex.  Terms of the
agreement were not announced.  Essex ARG, a unit of Dow Automotive, is the
market leader supplying adhesive systems to the automotive glass replacement
and repair industry.
    "There are 11 million windshields installed in over 20,000 glass shops
throughout the United States; we offer Permatex the ability to sell its
products in this market," said Essex ARG's General Manager Dan Riggle in his
comments on the exclusive agreement.
    Permatex products like Rear View Mirror Adhesive, Windshield Repair Kits
and Rubber Gasket Sealers create a broader product offering into the
automotive glass replacement and repair market.  The relationship makes it
possible for Essex ARG to become a one-stop-shop for the auto glass
replacement industry while providing Permatex access to a previously
underpenetrated distribution channel.
    The market position, brand recognition and quality images of both
companies make this an ideal strategic alliance of products and resources.
