Unifi Technology Group Introduces SCOR-based Supply Chain Consulting Practice For Manufacturing

Software Modeling of Supply Chain Operations Provides Metrics for Targeting
Areas of Improvement, Impact Analysis of Implementation Strategies,
And Criteria Definition for Selection of Enabling Technologies

CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 24 Unifi Technology Group, Inc., a
leading e-Manufacturing solutions provider, today announced creation of its
Supply Chain Consulting Practice for Manufacturing. The practice uses SCOR
modeling techniques to deliver metrics-based Supply Chain Assessment,
Technology Blueprint, and e-Manufacturing Technology Selection services
allowing clients to preview and examine the effects of supply chain decisions
before their actual implementation. Unifi Technology is directing its Supply
Chain Consulting Practice towards manufacturers in the electronics assembly,
automotive, metals, and consumer packaged goods industries.
SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference-model) is a standard guideline,
developed by the Supply Chain Council (SCC), that leading companies all over
the world are using to examine the configuration of their supply chains,
identify and measure metrics in the chain, determine weak links, and then work
to achieve best practice where deemed appropriate. Unifi Technology's Supply
Chain Consulting Practice engagements begin with a SCOR-model Value Assessment
that creates a customized, SCOR-based "as-is" software model of a client's
supply chain, reflecting key relationships between manufacturing operations,
suppliers and customers. These models are built using Gensym Corporation's
e-SCOR supply chain modeling software.
Following creation of the model, Unifi Technology works with the client to
examine which business metrics, such as asset turns, yield, or cycle time, can
be improved, and a precise mapping of available e-Manufacturing technology to
each potential improvement area is developed. This metrics-based analysis
leads to the Technology Blueprint Service, which indicates where maximum ROI
can be obtained through the application of appropriate e-Manufacturing
technologies such as MES (manufacturing execution system), SCP (supply chain
planning), PDM (product data management, and EAI (enterprise application
integration). At this point, a benefit model, technical recommendations for
software and hardware, and preliminary ROI analyses are created that correlate
the expected benefit assumptions with the technology investment that will be
required to realize the new objectives.
In the third element of the Supply Chain Consulting Practice offerings
-- e-Manufacturing Technology Selection -- Unifi Technology Group assists the
client in developing functional specifications for selection of the new
e-Manufacturing software technologies, and constructs business scenarios that
each candidate vendor must exercise during their package demonstration. As
part of this selection process, Unifi Technology Group helps narrow candidate
vendors to a "short list," and produces a management recommendation
incorporating the vendor selection justification, anticipated implementation
costs, the final ROI analysis, and an initial implementation plan.
"The Supply Chain Council's SCOR model provides a solid basis from which a
manufacturer can look objectively at its entire supply chain," said
Rob Rudder, Vice President at Unifi Technology Group. "Gensym's e-SCOR
modeling software enables us to very quickly build a detailed simulation of a
client's supply chain, which then serves as the platform for the
decision-making, product selection, planning, execution, and continuous re-
evaluation of the stepwise progression that is required to realize these
objectives. Our Supply Chain Consulting Practice creates a foundation of
visibility, metrics, and control, from which our clients successfully launch
and manage their initiatives for manufacturing supply chain improvement."

    About Unifi Technology Group
Unifi Technology Group, Inc. is an e-Manufacturing solutions provider that
assists companies in optimizing the use of their production assets. By
architecting and implementing strategies that leverage existing software
infrastructures, the company provides its customers with the ability to
integrate supply chains over the Internet while enhancing operational
manufacturing efficiencies. This involves the creation of data models for
process workflow that are then used as the foundation upon which to build
solutions coupling enterprise systems with plant floor operations. The result
is the deployment of interactive, responsive manufacturing environments that
are driven by real-time customer information and coordinated with the
realities of actual production capability. Unifi Technology resources are
distributed across eight worldwide offices and support centers in North
America and Europe. Unifi Technology's corporate offices are at Suite 600,
2815 Coliseum Centre Drive, Charlotte, NC 28217, 704-227-6600,
