Jiffy Lube Selects McCarthy Mambro Bertino as New Advertising Agency

    HOUSTON, May 23 Jiffy Lube International, the world's
largest fast lube operator and franchiser and a wholly owned subsidiary of
Pennzoil-Quaker State Company, has selected McCarthy Mambro Bertino of Boston
to handle its advertising in the U.S. Annual billings are expected to be up to
$20 million.
    "We wanted a highly strategic agency partner that understands our
customers in a relevant and creative manner," said Anne Tawney, senior vice
president of marketing, Jiffy Lube. "We were highly impressed with the
commitment and passion they exhibited for the business and felt it matched our
commitment for our customers," she added.

    The other three finalists from 13 agencies from which requests for
proposals were issued were Foote Cone Belding Worldwide in New York, part of
True North Communications; Publicis & Hal Riney in San Francisco, part of the
Publicis Groupe; and the Tracy Locke Partnership in Dallas. The Richards Group
in Dallas, which did not take part in the review, had handled the account for
one year.
    McCarthy Mambro Bertino is a full-service advertising agency with more
than 20 employees. Founded earlier this year, the three partners of the agency
have 60 years of collective advertising and marketing experience. With the
addition of Jiffy Lube, its total annual billings are more than $60 million.
    Jiffy Lube, located on more than 2,100 of the busiest street corners in
America, is synonymous with convenient car care. The company pioneered the
fast oil change industry in 1979 and today serves as many as 29 million
customers. Jiffy Lube International is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pennzoil-
