Delphi Attains Business Milestone in Asia Pacific

                    Global Supplier Announces 19 Customers

                 Double-Digit Regional Growth Plans On-Track

TOKYO, May 23 Delphi Automotive Systems' aggressive pursuit of
Asia Pacific business led to more than 35 new contracts in the region during
the first quarter of 2001, company officials said today.

The new contracts, which average three years in length, are for 23 different
products and support 19 customers in Asia Pacific, including the recent
announcement of Delphi's business with China Engine Corp. At the customers'
request, Delphi is unable to announce specific contract terms for individual
programs at this time.

         Delphi's Asia-Pacific non-consolidated sales reached more than $2.1
billion in 2000 and sales growth is expected to exceed 10 percent in 2001.
Sales of $3.2 billion are forecast in the region by the end of 2003, according
to J.T. Battenberg, Delphi chairman, CEO and president.

"Delphi's presence in the Asia Pacific region continues to increase, and
we are gaining brand recognition and market share," Battenberg said. "Our
sales in the region increased by double digits last year, compared to 1999 and
we expect to continue this growth rate as we deepen the level of technology
sold and manufactured here."

In an effort to diversify its customer base and expand its regional
components and systems offerings, Delphi continues to focus on the development
of business with Asian original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as well as
transplant operations, and is finding success in the region.

"Delphi is constantly striving to grow share in the automotive industry,
as well as in new non-automotive regional markets," said Choon Chon,
president, Delphi Automotive Systems, Asia Pacific. "Delphi has created many
of the automotive industry's leading technologies and is working hard to
exceed Asia Pacific customer needs with innovations. These are to improve
fuel economy, achieve lower emissions, and improve vehicle performance while
increasing vehicle safety," he said.

Delphi has been awarded new business in technologies such as:

    * ion sense ignition subsystems -- engine knock and misfire detection
systems.
    *  diesel electronic control modules/EDU/sensor
    * driver & passenger airbags, seat belts
    *  wiring
    * engine management systems (EMS) -- equip and calibrate an engine to try
to achieve zero emissions, improve fuel economy and superior performance and
driveability
    * halfshafts -- transmit power from the engine to the wheels.
    * steering gears -- rack and pinion and integral steering gears provide
directional control, road feedback and stability for the driver.
    * chassis corner modules -- combining controlled brakes and suspension
into one module.

In addition to increasing the number of sales contracts, Delphi has
entered into co-development agreements and partnerships with several Asia
Pacific customers.
    * Delphi and Brilliance China Automotive Holding Ltd. will co-develop
engine management systems for Jinbei-branded vehicles.
    * Delphi and China Engine Corp. will jointly develop engine management
systems.
    * Isuzu Motors is working with Delphi to develop ion sense ignition
subsystems for 2000 and beyond Rodeos and Troopers.
    * Delphi and Ashimori Industry Co. Ltd. of Japan have signed a teaming
agreement to pursue airbag business worldwide.

In Asia Pacific, Delphi has more than 18,000 employees in 14 facilities
and four technical centers, in 10 countries. The company also is involved in
20 joint ventures throughout the region. Delphi supports almost all major
Asian OEMs as well as Asia Pacific operations of American and European OEMs.
