Hayes Lemmerz Receives Contract From General
Motors For Award Winning Aluminum Crossmember
NORTHVILLE, Mich., May 22 Hayes Lemmerz International,
Inc. announced today that it was selected as the supplier of
aluminum crossmembers for General Motors' all-new Pontiac Aztek and Buick
Rendezvous SUVs. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"This incremental contract further enhances our long-term relationship
with General Motors and Hayes Lemmerz' commitment to manufacturing lightweight
aluminum components," said Mish Jaksic, President of Hayes Lemmerz' Suspension
Components Business Unit.
Additionally, the crossmember was recently selected as an Honorable
Mention winner in the National Casting Contest sponsored by Engineered Casting
Solutions Magazine, an official publication of the American Foundry Society
(AFS). Judges representing rapid prototyping, foundry and engineering
interests, examined the crossmember based on the criteria of ingenuity/product
design, overall quality, optimized properties and contributions to market.
The award winning crossmember was recently displayed at the 2001 AFS Casting
Congress, held on April 29-May 1, in Dallas, TX.
