BorgWarner Morse TEC Chain to Drive 30 Cars at Indy 500

All Olds Aurora Engines Equipped with New-Generation, High-Durability Chain

CHICAGO, May 22 All but three cars at Sunday's
Indianapolis 500 will be powered by Oldsmobile Aurora engines that use a
high-durability BorgWarner Morse TEC chain system. During
qualifying races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this month,
Aurora-equipped cars were among those qualifying for the pole position and the
first eight positions.

"We'd be most proud to award the BorgWarner Indianapolis 500 Trophy to the
driver of a winning car equipped with a BorgWarner Morse TEC chain," said John
F. Fiedler, BorgWarner Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "With Morse
chains on 30 out of 33 cars, the odds are pretty good. It gives us one more
reason to look forward to what is always a memorable day at the Speedway."

Roush Industries and BorgWarner Morse TEC combined efforts to develop the
new-generation multi-indexing timing chain set, the latest application of a
design that is typically used on BorgWarner front-wheel and four-wheel drive
transmission and transfer case chain applications. The 9600 chain is twice as
strong as a standard production-style roller chain and three times as strong
as a timing belt, addressing the durability challenges that race teams have
with traditional timing systems. In addition, the efficiency and low friction
of the 9600 rocker joint chain at the high RPM of race engines provides more
horsepower as well as fuel economy advantages.

BorgWarner Morse TEC is a global leader in the design and manufacture of
automotive chain systems and components for engine timing, automatic
transmission and four-wheel drive applications. Chicago-based BorgWarner
is a product leader in highly engineered components and systems
for vehicle powertrain applications worldwide. The company operates
manufacturing and technical facilities in 46 locations in 13 countries.
