Lorain County Leaders Take Drive Safer
America! Skid Pad Challenge
LORAIN, Ohio, May 22 Lorain County safety leaders will
experience the difference between four wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS) and
conventional braking at a Safe Community Coalition event on May 24, held in
cooperation with the Drive Safer America! Skid Pad Challenge. Continental
Teves, sponsor of Drive Safer America! and the brake and chassis unit of
Continental AG, manufactures advanced electronic vehicle safety systems,
including ABS and the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), both of which will
be demonstrated at the event.
With Memorial Day holiday traffic and the running of the Indianapolis 500
only a week away, safe driving issues and preparations for heavier than normal
traffic are on the minds of our community leadership. Members of the Ohio
State Police force, local police, political leaders and driving education
teachers are among the thought leaders who will participate, testing their
skill on the Drive Safer America! skid pad.
The Skid Pad Challenge will be located in the parking lot of the Kmart at
Route 58 and Cooper Foster Park Road from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on May 24, and
can be driven by appointment only. Contact the Lorain County General Health
District office at 440-322-6367 or 440-244-3418 for more information.
