Complete Solution Now Available to Integrate the Automotive Supply Chain; Point 5(R) Partners With Custom Technology Solutions

PHILADELPHIA, May 17 Point 5 Technologies and Custom
Technology Solutions (CTS) today announced a partnership to shape the future
of integrated IT services in the automotive aftermarket. Point 5's e-Toolbox,
an online ordering mechanism for repair shops, is being paired with CTS data
warehouse (DATACAST) software, enabling warehouse distributors to combine,
manage and utilize sales and inventory information in one common format.
The CTS data warehouse (DATACAST) delivers on the long awaited promise of
inventory control and forecasting across multiple platforms. By integrating
the DATACAST software, a supplier with multiple computer systems or an entire
program distribution group can combine, manage and utilize sales and inventory
information in one common format. After several years of testing, development
and use by a major distribution group, DATACAST is now available to the entire
aftermarket.
Point 5's new e-Toolbox software allows a service dealer to build
comprehensive job estimates by looking up parts and labor times for
installation. In addition, the new software offers the ability to view
technical service bulletins. Through the CTS parts link, the installer links
up with their supplier's inventory, views product quantities and pricing and
then places the order electronically. The time savings alone will
significantly improve bay productivity by quickly locating hard-to-find parts.
"There are many automotive e-commerce systems that are focused on either
the installers or the suppliers -- but not one which brings substantial value
to both players. Combining the e-Toolbox with the CTS parts link benefits
both sides of the supply chain," says Don Avellino, CEO and president of Point
5. "With Chilton replacing their electronic labor guide with the e-Toolbox and
distributing a large volume of the software directly to the installer, the
supplier simply logs into the CTS network to receive those orders. By
partnering, CTS and Point 5 set a standard for the automotive aftermarket."
CTS president and CEO Nadeem Mazhar says, "We are extremely excited about
our alliance with Point 5. The time is right for the convergence of multiple
and diverse computer and distribution systems into a seamless data warehouse
concept. IT equipment and training costs are rising dramatically due to the
pace of advancing technology and our concept of facility and technology
sharing offers a viable and economic solution. For the first time ever, a
warehouse distributor or multi-store chain will be able to achieve
state-of-the-art functionality without investing in new equipment or
personnel."
