PITTSBURGH, May 17 Corvette owners from all over Western
Pennsylvania will be showing their stuff at Pittsburgh's Premier Corvette Show
on Sunday, May 20th. Come and see more than 100 of the area's finest cars at
Day Chevrolet in Monroeville from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m., courtesy of The
Corvette Club of Western Pennsylvania.
    Corvettes will show in six different classes:  Street; Trailered;
Modified; Race Prepared; Wash and Show; and Fun. Five different age groups
will compete.
Founded in 1958, The Corvette Club of Western Pennsylvania is the oldest
Corvette Club in the area. It has 400 members and annually sponsors a Spring
Show and Fall Show at Day Chevrolet, located on Route 286 in Monroeville. It
also served as host club for the Western Pennsylvania Corvette Club Council's
inaugural gathering at the "Corvette Cruz at Renzie."
The highlight of the Spring Show is the presentation of a check to a
notable charity. The 2001 gift will be donated to The Salvation Army's
Braddock Worship and Service Center. "Our community will benefit greatly from
The Corvette Club of Western Pennsylvania's generosity," said Braddock
Salvation Army Commanding Officer, Captain Steven Magill. "We are honored
that they have chosen our organization this year and we'll certainly put the
contribution to good use."
Founded in 1865 in London, England, The Salvation Army is active in 107
countries worldwide. It is both a church and a social service organization.
The Western Pennsylvania Division of The Salvation Army is headquartered in
downtown Pittsburgh. It administers 28 counties, including 48 Worship and
Service Centers and 153 Service Units.
