ALEX JOB RACING McKENNA PORSCHE TRAVEL TO JARAMA, SPAIN; LOOK TO CONTINUE WINNING WAYS
Tavares, Florida – May 15, 2001 – For the second time in just over a month, the Alex Job Racing (AJR), McKenna Porsche personnel is trekking across the Atlantic Ocean to compete in the second round of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), this time at the 2.
392 mile Circuito del Jarama, near Madrid.
By running the two European races, AJR will have more race finishes under its belt. This will allow greater flexibility at the end of the year, when final tallying of the championship points for the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). The lowest two finishes a
re not counted in the final standings, including results from the ELMS.
Having finished 1-2 in the first three races of the year, the team is cautiously optimistic heading into the fourth. Despite the Porsche team’s early season success, the two BMW V8 M3 GTR’s of Jorg Muller/J.J. Lehto, and Dirk Muller/Fredrik Ekblom have pro
ven to be quite fast. They have turned in the fastest race laps at each race they have entered.
“The team has been working very hard looking for speed, Alex Job said”. “We have gone over each and every system on the cars trying to maximize the set-up, and we are hoping to see an improvement this weekend here in Spain.”
Lucas Luhr and Sascha Maassen will be driving the #23 Alex Job Racing McKenna Porsche GT3 RS, while Randy Pobst and Emmanuel Collard will be sharing the drivers seat in the matching #22. Collard takes the spot normally occupied by Christian Menzel, who has
a prior commitment to drive in the Porsche Carrera Cup series, this weekend in Germany. Maassen is leading the points in the ALMS GT class with 56, while teammate Luhr has 55. Pobst and Menzel are tied for third with 47.
Now in its 13th year of competition, Alex Job Racing (AJR) is one of the premier independent Porsche teams in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). Based in a brand new 16,000 sq. ft. facility in Tavares, Florida, AJR entries have tallied three victories in
the 12 Hours of Sebring, one win in the 24 Hours of Daytona, ten ALMS wins and captured the 1999 ALMS GT Driver and Manufacturer Championships.
