NOTES OF INTEREST: The EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 100 will be
the 14th appearance of the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Lowe’s Motor Speedway
since Curtis Turner won the inaugural race in 1964. Third generation
drivers' Kerry Earnhardt, Justin Labonte, Jason Jarrett and Steadman
Marlin hope to shine bright this weekend at LMS, but first they'll have
to deal with red-hot ARCA RE/MAX Series veteran Frank Kimmel who has won
the last three consecutive events at Salem, Gateway and Kentucky. In
addition, ARCA RE/MAX Series veteran and three-time champ Tim Steele, a
4-time ARCA RE/MAX winner at LMS, is entered, as are veterans’ Andy
Belmont, Mark Gibson, Ron Cox and Chuck Weber. Former NFL football coach
Jerry Glanville will attempt to make his 15th career ARCA RE/MAX Series
start at LMS. Glanville, who at present is a TV analyst for CBS and HBO,
finished 10th last Saturday in the Kentucky ARCA 150 at Kentucky
Speedway. Second-generation ARCA drivers entered include Billy Venturini
whose father Bill Venturini was a 2-time ARCA RE/MAX Series driving
champion and Todd Bowsher whose father Jack Bowsher was a 3-time driving
champion and 2-time car owner champion. No driver has repeat wins at LMS
other than Steele who has 4. The EasyCare 100 serves as a prelude to
NASCAR’s all-start events: The Winston Open and The Winston.
