SPX Receives Early Termination of Waiting Period

    MUSKEGON, Mich., May 15 SPX Corporation
announced today that it has received early termination of the waiting period
under the Hart Scott Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 from the U.S.
Federal Trade Commission in connection with the previously announced proposed
acquisition of United Dominion Industries Limited.  SPX said that it has also
received a no-action letter from the Canadian Competition Bureau advising
that, based on the information provided to it, it does not intend to challenge
the proposed acquisition.
