McLaren Performance Technologies' CEO Steven Rossi talks to The Wall Street Transcript

NEW YORK--May 14, 2001--The Wall Street Transcript has published an in-depth interview with Steven Rossi, CEO of McLaren Performance Technologies , in which he talks at length about the company's future.
The entire 2,700-word interview is available online at http://www.twst.com/info/info347.htm
Rossi gives an overview of the company. "McLaren Performance Technologies is the company that grew out of the North American engine building heritage started by Bruce McLaren, the racecar driver. Thirty years ago McLaren, was running what was called CanAm Racing, or the Canadian-American Challenge Cup, which was a North American-based racing series. McLaren was building racecars in England, because that's where the infrastructure was to do that, or what you'd consider the Silicon Valley of racecar manufacturing."
Rossi explains, "If we were trying to continue the business that we're in, specifically engineering services, I would say that our future would be somewhat dependent upon the industry as a whole. Where we're trying to get out ahead of that curve is by adding some new revenue streams to the enterprise. Again, we've got an opportunity with our limited slip differential technology to start to move that into some new environments. More importantly, we want to go back into niche vehicle domain. We did cars like the Buick GNX, and the Pontiac GTP Turbo. We want to get into the niche vehicle business again and we also want to move into the aftermarket as well so that we can have a little more control of our own destiny."
Looking forward, Rossi states, "Basically, where we've been, where we're going. Basically, what we've achieved so far, and the recognition we've created over 30 years. The business plan that we're developing to move us into the niche car and aftermarket world. The licensing opportunities. The branding opportunities. Our intellectual property."
This interview is part of a 56-page Autos & Auto Parts Issue available at http://www.twst.com/info/info347.htm or by calling (212) 952-7433.
