WARREN, Mich., May 14 A Mexico-based Delphi Automotive
Systems' operation has been recognized for its process excellence
at the Global Excellence in Operations (GEO) Conference. RIMIR, supplier of
award-winning airbag systems, received the 2001 North American GEO AWARD(SM)

"I want to congratulate RIMIR and the entire Delphi team for being judged
the very best in North America," said George B. Sloan Jr., Delphi Interior
Systems manufacturing manager, global operations. "The award for process
excellence recognizes the outstanding efforts of the operations'
implementation of lean principles. RIMIR exemplifies what 'world-class' means
in the rapidly changing global marketplace."
The GEO AWARDS(SM) program, arranged by A.T. Kearney, is the first awards
program to recognize excellence in operations on a global scale and to cover
the extended global supply chain. The program measures the business impact of
operations across five key performance elements, which ultimately drive value
creation: customer satisfaction, quality, economics, agility and innovation.
Participants in the program benchmark their performance against a large global
set of enterprises from a wide spectrum of industries.
RIMIR manufactures occupant protection systems and is part of Delphi's
Interior Systems division. The facility has been recognized by several
prestigious organizations. In 2000, RIMIR was a top five finalist in the 2000
North American GEO AWARDS(SM) competition and a winner in Industry Week
magazine's America's Best Plants competition. In 1999, the plant received the
Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing. The facility also received
General Motors' Supplier of the Year recognition for 1999 and 2000.
Delphi's Componentes Mecanicos de Matamoros (CMM) was awarded a plaque for
special merit and for being a finalist in the competition.
