Trans-Am Series Announces Appointment Of Dennis Huth
Miami - The Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup today announced the
appointment of former NASCAR executive Dennis Huth. He will fill a
newly-created dual role of oversight of the Trans-Am Series and president of
Professional Sports Car Racing, Inc., which is owned by Panoz Motor Sports
Group.
Huth will work directly with Trans-Am Series executive director John
Clagett on series development and expansion. He will be involved in the
day-to-day operations of the series including track and promoter relations,
development of increased manufacturer participation, sponsorship and
television, as well as all business and administrative functions.
“I am looking forward to working with Dennis on the day-to-day operation of
the Trans-Am Series,” said Clagett. “Dennis brings a wealth of motorsports
experience to the series and these attributes will clearly benefit the
Trans-Am Series’ ongoing development. His track record with NASCAR speaks
volumes.”
“I have worked with Dennis before and I am really excited to have him on
board with the Trans-Am Series,” said Trans-Am Series president Ralph
Sanchez. “He will bring a keen sense of what it takes to be successful. He
can take a vision and make it a reality. He did that with the NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series and we look forward to his application of those kind
of ideas to the Trans-Am Series.”
The Trans-Am Series is America’s performance car road racing series. In its
36th year of competition in 2001, the Trans-Am Series is the longest running
road racing series in North America. Since its incetion in 1966, the
Trans-Am Series has provided a competition arena for stock-appearing touring
(sedans) and grand touring (sport) race cars.
Huth most recently served as Vice President of Touring Series and
International Development for NASCAR. He helped to develop and launch the
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 1995 and the NASCAR Northwest Tour in 1987.
Huth played a key role in the growth of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series as
he brought many weekly race tracks throughout the United States under NASCAR
sanction. He began his NASCAR career in 1982 as Northwest Field Manager.
Round three of the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup, the
Trans-Am Series 125, will be held on May 20 at Mosport International
Raceway. The race, to be televised live on Speedvision at 1:00, will be the
first of three mandatory pit stop races.
