ASA Drivers / Cars at Concord Mills Prior to BFGoodrich Tires 300 at Concord Motorsport Park

Pendleton, IN (May 11, 2001) – A series of driver and show car appearances is scheduled in advance of the May 20 ASA ACDelco Series BFGoodrich Tires 300 at Concord Motorsport Park in Concord (NC). The buildup to the race is highlighted by a three-car appea rance with eleven ASA drivers participating in an autograph session on Friday, May 18, from 4 to 7 pm at Concord Mills on I-85 Exit 49 just 10 minutes north of downtown Charlotte. WXRC 95.7 FM, Charlotte’s Best Rock, will be broadcasting on location from C oncord Mills for the event.
The appearance is sponsored by BFGoodrich Tires, the Official Tire of ASA. There is a stellar collection of ASA and short track stock car competitors scheduled to appear at the Best Fest Food Court on Friday, May 18, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Butch Miller, a three-time ASA National Champion and the current championship points leader headlines the drivers. Two-time 2001 winner Joey Clanton of Georgia, rookie star and Iowa race winner Johnny Sauter, Canadian stock car hero Scott Fraser, veteran ASA ace Mike Miller, All-Pro Series winningest driver Wayne Anderson, Ricky Bryant of Archdale (NC), Hawkeye Downs track champion Johnny Spaw of Cedar Rapids (IA), rookie Matt Sielsky of Chicago, second-year driver J.C. Beattie Jr. of Baltimore and newcom er Rodney Childers Jr. round out the driver lineup.
Johnny Sauter’s number 9 A.P. Plasman Chevrolet, Sielsky’s number 10 Monte Carlo and the 00 BFGoodrich Tires Pontiac ASA cars will be displayed Concord Mills. Sauter and Sielsky’s Vortec-powered machines will be at Entry 2 throughout the day. The BFGoodri ch Tires Pontiac can be seen at the Best Fest Food Court.
Ricky Bryant and his Washington Apples BG Motorsports Pontiac will make multiple appearances on behalf of Food Lion stores in the Charlotte / Concord area. WOSC 103.7 FM will support appearances on Wednesday, May 16, from 3 to 7 p.m. at 9021 Albemarle Rd. in Charlotte; Thursday May 17, at 8010 Cambridge Commons Drive in Charlotte; Friday, May 18, at 3501 Hwy 601 in Concord; and Saturday, May 19, from 10 am to 2 pm at 734 Cabarrus Ave. in Concord.
Second-year sensation Joey Clanton will appear along with his number 83 Zaxby’s Real Chicken Chevrolet at Zaxby’s Restaurant 7781 Gateway Lane NW in Concord. There will be prizes awarded including tickets to the BFGoodrich Tires 300.
Texas Roadhouse Restaurant at 9530 South Blvd. in Charlotte will host LaFavre Racing Teams drivers Kevin Cywinski and his number 21 Texas Roadhouse Chevrolet and Mike Garvey along with the number 1 Tecumseh Chevrolet from 5 to 7 p.m.
The BFGoodrich Tires 300 marks ASA’s eighth appearance since 1996 in North Carolina. Practice and qualifying is on Saturday, May 19, with the BFGoodrich Tires 300 scheduled for Sunday, May 20, 1 p.m. (Local). The event will be televised Live on TNN Sports .
