Littelfuse Announces Settlement of Lawsuit With CompUSA
DES PLAINES, Ill.--May 11, 2001--Littelfuse, Inc. today announced that it has favorably settled its lawsuit with CompUSA, Inc. CompUSA has agreed to terminate the sales of motherboards containing infringing Polytronics' PPTCs (Polymer Positive Temperature Coefficient) devices that are identified in Littelfuse's complaint.On February 14, 2001, Littelfuse sued CompUSA in U.S. District Court asserting that certain motherboards containing Polytronics Technology Corporation PPTCs infringed Littelfuse's U.S. Patent No. 6,023,403. Pursuant to the settlement, CompUSA covenants not to restock or reorder motherboards containing infringing Polytronics' products. The parties have also agreed that Littelfuse will advise CompUSA of any additional products that it believes contain PPTCs that infringe Littelfuse's U.S. Patent No. 6,023,403 and CompUSA will have 45 days to agree to terminate sales of such products.
Littelfuse said it wishes to publicly thank CompUSA for respecting Littelfuse's intellectual property rights.
