AutoTerminal.com Americas Signs Agreement With HUAL Shipping; Ensures Regular, Timely Shipment of Vehicles Throughout the Caribbean
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--May 11, 2001--AutoTerminal.com Americas, an international shipper of quality automobiles and other vehicles, today announced an agreement with HUAL, one of the world's leading operators of specialized deep-sea carriers, that will guarantee timely shipments of vehicles to dealers and auto buyers throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.
AutoTerminal.com Americas said the agreement calls for HUAL to base one of its "ro-ro" (roll-on, roll-off) carriers, the Caribe Star, at AutoTerminal's U.S. headquarters in Port Everglades and provide regular service to Caribbean and Latin American auto dealers and individual vehicle buyers.
This closely follows AutoTerminal.com Americas announcement last month that the U.S. Customs Service has approved its terminal in Port Everglades as a Foreign Trade Zone.
AutoTerminal.com Americas will celebrate the grand opening of its new 10-acre headquarters on May 11 and 12, when nearly 500 Caribbean and Latin American auto dealers and several U.S. auto suppliers arrive at Port Everglades to tour the new terminal and learn about AutoTerminal.com Americas broad array of services.
"The 18,000-ton Caribe Star holds up to 350 vehicles and service to all of the Caribbean Islands will begin later this month," said AutoTerminal.com America's CEO Stephen Magee.
"This agreement is another important step in establishing AutoTerminal.com Americas as the premier shipper of vehicles to all of the Caribbean and Latin America," Magee said.
James E. Butcher, President, HUAL North America, said: "HUAL is excited to offer scheduled service in and out of Port Everglades, a port that we know well and feel is one that offers great opportunities for HUAL, our customers and the community. This agreement with AutoTerminal.com Americas heralds a new beginning for HUAL here. Our vessels will offload vehicles in Port Everglades being imported into and trans-shipped via the U.S. from Japan and, then, load cars bound for the Caribbean.
"This agreement allows HUAL to add another leg to our Caribbean Service, which has been operating for more than three years, increase our port range with the addition of Port Everglades and enhance our service to our customers, whether they are importing or exporting. We see good things on the horizon for Port Everglades, AutoTerminal.com Americas and HUAL."
