At the Texas Motor Speedway Speedvision GT Round One Race, Jimmy Adams not only made the debut of his red, white and blue Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, but also his new custom conversion MCI F3500 motor coach. Adams and MCI have come to a sponsorship agreement for the remainder of the season.
As part of its sponsorship, the Motor Coach Industry (MCI) name is emblazoned both on the Porsche and its 30-foot trailer, towed by the F3500, MCI's new 35-foot, twin-axle coach model.
"People were interested in the entire rig," said Roland Peek, MCI Director of Conversion Sales. "It's the perfect size for racing teams, and the price point is very attractive."
"The F3500 gives you more maneuverability and allows you to tow a longer trailer," said Adams, comparing it to conventional-size coaches as well as the rougher-riding conversion trucks used by many teams. "We think the F3500 would be a great option for people who want a comfortable home while at the race, or a place to entertain corporate sponsors."
The F3500 coach was converted by Caldwell Coach, Moneta, Va. In addition to sporting a VIP interior with a convertible sofa-to-bed set-up, the coach includes high-tech and entertainment amenities including two flat-screen televisions.
In addition to the 10-race Speedvision GT schedule, Adams and the F3500 will travel to select shows and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, an event the World Challenge sophomore won twice (1997 and 1999) in the Legends category.
After mechanical gremlins forced Adams' retirement from Round One, he bounced back at Sebring with a career-best finish of seventh.
With headquarters in Schaumburg, Ill., and sales and service centers across the United States and Canada, MCI is the leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of intercity coaches and coach-related parts and services for the North American market.
