WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., May 10 "Chosen," a new film by
Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee, premiered today on
http://www.bmwfilms.com. "Chosen" is the second installment of "The Hire" an
unprecedented web-based entertainment project of five original films executive
produced by film-maker David Fincher ("Fight Club," "The Game," "Se7en")
through Anonymous Content, an LA-based multi-media entertainment company. The
project is underwritten by BMW.
The Director of critically acclaimed films including "Sense and
Sensibility" (1995) and "The Ice Storm" (1997), Ang Lee captivated American
audiences this year with the Academy Award-winning "Crouching Tiger, Hidden
Dragon." In "Chosen," Ang Lee creates a thrilling, yet beautiful, tale filled
with mystery.
"Chosen" stars Clive Owen, as the mysterious Driver who meets a ship
carrying an eight-year-old Tibetan boy with mystical powers at a dark,
deserted New York shipyard. The assignment to deliver the boy safely to the
monk isn't easy -- the villains will stop at nothing to get the boy. The
Driver's skills, smarts and strength is the boy's only hope of staying alive.
In addition to "Chosen," other films in "The Hire" series include:
"Ambush" by John Frankenheimer ("Ronin") which debuted April 26th, "The
Follow" by Wong Kar-Wai ("In the Mood for Love") set to premiere on May 24th,
"Star" by Guy Ritchie ("Snatch,") and "Powderkeg" by Alejandro Gonzales
Inarritu ("Amores Perros."). Each film stars British acting sensation Owen
("Croupier") as The Driver whose mysterious character the audience follows
through cryptic and dangerous situations. The films are brilliantly cast with
strong supporting characters played by: Madonna (actress/recording artist),
Mickey Rourke ("The Pledge"), Tomas Milian ("Traffic"), and Adriana Lima
(Guess? model).
