Telcontar Demonstrates Location-Based Services for the BREW Platform; Company to Demonstrate Services at BREW 2001 Conference in San Diego
SAN DIEGO--May 9, 2001--BREW 2001 Conference-- Telcontar, a leading provider of software and services for location-based solution companies, today announced its plans to introduce services for QUALCOMM's Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless(TM) (BREW(TM)) platform. Telcontar is demonstrating the first phase of the company's new offerings at the "BREW 2001: Developer and 3G Technology Conference," May 8-10, in San Diego. The initial set of applications being developed to run on the BREW platform features address look-up, map display, routing, driving directions and real-time traffic reports."We are pleased to work on providing quality location-based applications for QUALCOMM's BREW platform," said Eric Carlson, president and CEO of Telcontar. "We believe Telcontar's location-based software platform and services in conjunction with the BREW platform will enable wireless carriers to provide innovative and useful applications to their customers."
The BREW platform is a very thin applications environment for wireless devices. It provides applications developers with an open, standard platform upon which to develop their products. Because the BREW platform provides a standard environment, software developers can simply integrate their applications to the BREW platform once, eliminating the need to modify applications for each new device model.
