Delphi Receives 'E-Champion' Award From German
Consultants
TROY, Mich., May 9 Delphi Automotive Systems
announced today that it was selected by Roland Berger, a German business
consulting company, as an "e-champion" for its successful efforts in
addressing the impact of web-based technologies on its critical business
processes.
Delphi has been actively addressing e-business processes for the past
several years and now has Internet-projects in progress in all aspects of its
business. The basis for Delphi's e-initiatives is a well-developed e-business
strategy and extensive experience in Internet auctions.
"At Delphi, we continue to work at mastering the fundamentals of business:
customer, quality and service excellence, innovative products, hiring and
developing the most talented employees and implementing solid business
practices," said Jose-Maria Alapont, president, Delphi Europe, Middle East and
Africa and vice president, Delphi Automotive Systems. "Delphi's e-business
initiatives help us do it faster, better and at lower costs."
The "e-champion" award is an initiative of Roland Berger Strategy
Consultants and the special interest magazines Automobil-Produktion and
Automobil-Entwicklung. Roland Berger compared the business-Internet
activities of the most important automotive suppliers in Germany, and three
were selected as winners. The awards were officially presented on Tuesday,
May 8, at the "Automobil Forum" conference in Stuttgart, Germany.
Delphi established its e-business program office in January 2000 to more
fully embrace web-enabled technologies and to position Delphi to win in the
new economy. Delphi has six cross-functional teams that focus on applying e-
business strategies within their respective value streams:
* Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
* Collaborative Product Development
* Buy / Sell Transactions and Exchanges
* Supply Chain Management (SCM)
* Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
* Business-to-Employee (B2E)
In 2000 much of Delphi's e-business effort has been focused on
understanding customers' Internet/exchange initiatives and developing plans to
ensure that its efforts are properly aligned. Delphi will continue to look
for ways to increase efficiency by streamlining its operations, as well as
implementing initiatives within its value chain.
