May 9, 2001INDIANAPOLIS - Track Side Live, the new premium service from Oval Track News (www.ovaltracknews.net), is donating $10 to the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation from all new $25 subscriptions to its service that it receives between April 16 and May 27, the date of the 85th annual Indy 500.
Through multiple daily e-mails to its subscribers, Track Side Live provides Indy Racing fans with exclusive news and photos from all Indy Racing Northern Light Series events whenever there is action on the track. The news and photos are also posted on the Track Side Live members-only Web site. Subscribers also have the opportunity to ask questions of Indy Racing drivers and team members.
For the $25 fee, subscribers will receive Track Side Live coverage through the Indianapolis 500 and opportunities to extend the service through the remainder of the 2001 season and beyond.
The decision to make the donation to the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation occurred in mid-April when subscriptions to the new Track Side Live service surpassed expectations.
Fans can subscribe to Track Side Live and obtain additional information about it and Oval Track News through www.ovaltracknews.net.
"We're delighted that Track Side Live has included us in its marketing program, and we wish it every success," said Sam Schmidt, a former Indy Racing driver who is recuperating from serious spinal cord injuries suffered when his Indy car crashed in a practice session last January. He is currently an Indy Racing team owner, fielding the Sam Schmidt Motorsports Racing Special Dallara Oldsmobile Firestone #99 driven by Davey Hamilton. "One hundred percent of this donation will go towards our mission."
The Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation is a public 501(C) 3 not-for-profit foundation based in Indianapolis which raises funds for equipment, treatment and medical research to help those dealing with the challenges of paralysis and other debilitating conditions and illnesses. Its Web site is currently under construction at www.samschmidt.org.
