Joe Isuzu Sells More SUVs; Isuzu Retail SUV Sales Up Fifty
Percent (MTD)
CERRITOS, Calif., May 8 The recent economic climate has
clearly not affected American Isuzu Motors Inc., evidenced by the company's
astounding 50% increase in its SUV retail sales for April 2001, as compared to
April 2000 month-end reports. And that's no lie.
Many factors have contributed to the strong sales including Isuzu's
increased public awareness since the beginning of the year, realized through
the return of its venerable and comic 'Joe Isuzu' personality, as well as
competitive sales and marketing programs like zero-percent interest and
60-month financing.
Sales were up across Isuzu's SUV stellar line-up. The Isuzu VehiCROSS
scored the highest increase, up a mind-boggling 128% (MTD). April sales of
the versatile and luxurious Rodeo were also up a meteoric 73%, while Trooper
enjoyed a respectable 46% increase. The recently named "Best in Class"
two-door by Motor Trend's "Truck Trend" magazine, the Rodeo Sport, also saw an
eight percent jump. (See attached for sales numbers.)
"April sales results are perhaps more impressive given strong competitive
pressures and current economic conditions," said Duke Hale, Senior Vice
President, COO, SUV, "Our 50% increase in SUV sales is significant, especially
given industry-wide sales numbers. And, like the consumer, we are making
better choices."
