ArvinMeritor Wheels Division Expands
Manufacturing Capability To Produce Commercial Truck Steel
Wheels
SAN LUIS POTOSI, Mexico, May 8 ArvinMeritor, Inc.
today announced that its San Luis Potosi manufacturing facility
has developed the capability to produce commercial truck-wheels. The recently
completed expansion of its wheel assembly facility added the production and
machinery to produce steel wheels up to 22.5 inches in diameter.
The addition of steel truck wheels augments its wide range of steel wheels
currently produced for passenger and light truck OEMs. The expanded
capability to produce larger wheels for the commercial market leverages the
synergy between ArvinMeritor's Light Vehicle Systems and Commercial Vehicle
Systems businesses and allows for the company to reach virtually all OEM
customers with steel wheels. The addition of wheels to the commercial market
complements the company's wheel-end offering of brake systems, hubs and drums.
"We are confident that we'll have the same success producing world-class
steel wheels for heavy truck manufacturers as we have had with our light
vehicle OEM customers," said Sidney Del Gaudio, vice president and general
manager, ArvinMeritor Wheels Division. "We are committed to leveraging
ArvinMeritor's current customer portfolio to offer our steel wheels to all of
our customers both heavy duty and light."
The San Luis Potosi plant features a new heavy stamping line, an automatic
rim rolling line, machining cells for both discs and rims, assembly and
welding cells for production of the larger truck steel wheels. New "state-of-
the-art" manufacturing equipment from Italy, Holland, Korea, Denmark and
Germany has been installed to ensure the wheels meet the highest quality
standards.
