Chrysler Group Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Receives Frederick Douglass Award

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 8 Chrysler Group Senior Vice
President of Government Affairs W. Frank Fountain received the Frederick
Douglass Award Sunday evening, May 6, during the 50th anniversary celebration
of the Detroit Club of the National Association of Negro Business &
Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. at the Detroit Holiday Inn.
    The Frederick Douglass Award is given annually to an African-American male
who has contributed time and effort to help African-American women take their
rightful place in every aspect of life.  This year's award was part of the
celebration honoring the organization's founders and the 50 years of community
service it has provided to the Detroit area.
    "Frank is not only personally dedicated to providing social and economic
equity for everyone, but has had a direct, positive and long-term impact on
the quality of his community," said Barbara Jean Patton, Event Program Chair
and Detroit Club Officer.  "As head of the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund,
his philanthropic efforts continue to set the pace for the automotive
companies, with him personally challenging his corporate peers to increase
their support for worthwhile causes."
    Fountain has been with DaimlerChrysler since 1973 and is currently
responsible for analysis of state and local government legislative issues,
community relations, national education programs and is President of the
DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund, the company's philanthropic organization.
    In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Fountain also serves on a
number of boards and is a member of many business and professional
organizations.  Fountain is currently the Vice Chairperson of the Citizens
Research Council of Michigan and Chairperson of the Hampton University Board
of Trustees.  He is also a member of the Wharton School Board of Overseers.
Other board seats include the Chair of the Detroit Public Schools Board of
Education, Vice Chair of New Detroit, Inc., Charles H. Wright Museum of
African American History, the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition, and the Joint
Center for Political and Economic Studies.
