Plastics Processing Show to Feature Product Demonstrations; Thousands of East Coast Buyers Will See Equipment in Operation at PLASTEC East
LOS ANGELES--May 8, 2001--A hallmark of the upcoming PLASTEC East trade show will be firsthand demonstrations from scores of equipment suppliers. The inaugural event, to be held June 5 to 7, 2001, in New York City's Javits Convention Center, will showcase suppliers of primary processing machinery, auxiliary equipment, molds and mold components, materials and e-Business solutions.
Attendees will include custom and captive processors of electronic, automotive, medical device, consumer goods, machinery, housewares and packaging sectors.
Since plastics processing equipment is a major capital investment, companies understandably prefer to see the equipment in operation before making their purchase decisions. Unfortunately, the machinery is often so large that opportunities to do so can be expensive and time-consuming. PLASTEC East provides a unique environment where buyers can not only see equipment in action, but can comparison shop as well.
Among the exhibitors who will demonstrate equipment at PLASTEC East are:
-- | Boy Machines Inc. (booth 621) will run a small capacity, 14.2-88 ton injection molding machine, versatile enough to meet shot capacities between 0.2 and 8 ounces, and featuring three levels of precision controls and a compact footprint. |
-- | Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing Company (booth 1153) will run its new GLOBAL line of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), offering form, dimension, and position measurement capability in a single, affordable machine. |
-- | Comet Automation Systems Inc. (booth 538) will launch the Comet/Lanco LTW desiccant central dryer/central conveying for processing optical data storage mediums (CD-ROMs, DVDs, etc.). |
-- | Husky Injection Molding Systems (booth 747) will run a new, 250-ton version of its Hylectric injection molding machine--model H225--targeting demanding applications such as thinwall packaging, medical, cell phone, pail, and closure applications. |
-- | JSW Plastics Machinery Inc. (booth 1133) will introduce a 60-ton, all-electric, third-generation JSW injection molding machine, which will include major enhancements to the machine's controller. |
PLASTEC East will serve attendees from the Northeast's 4,500 plastics processing facilities. The region's plastics market is worth approximately $56 billion annually. In New York alone, there are well over a thousand plastics facilities (the sixth most of any state in the U.S.), which employ approximately 71,000 people. Annual plastics shipments from the state total more than $12 billion.
The adjacent states of Connecticut, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania contain an additional 3,100 plastics facilities, more than 200,000 plastics industry employees, and close to $41 billion worth of annual plastics shipments.
PLASTEC East will co-locate with the Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) East and Atlantic Design & Manufacturing expositions. The event is expected to attract 15,000 attendees.
