Safe Transportation Systems Completes Tooling Development On Schedule For Production Of Tractor Trailer Accident Control Systems

BELLINGHAM, Wash.--May 7, 2001--Safe Transportation Systems, Inc. (STS) (OTCBB: SFTS) announced today the Company has successfully completed tooling development for components of its proprietary Accident Control and Anti-Jackknife System, and is on schedule to begin shipping systems from its Bellingham plant by the end of August. The Company has secured outside manufacturing to fulfill existing orders until the facility is fully operational.
"Domestic steel suppliers and foundries are poised to begin shipping the cast frames, hardened chromed steel shafts and high tensile steel engaging bars this summer," said Patrick Riebalkin, VP of Manufacturing and Product Development for STS. He said the company has sourced multiple suppliers for all other components to the manufacturing process to ensure supply and timely delivery.
The engaging bar, core of the technology, limits the amount of tractor rotation relative to the trailer and prevents the trailer from swinging past the out-of-control point. This permits a driver to power and steer out of emergency situations.
