May 05, 2001BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (9th):
(ON RUNNING THE FIRST NIGHT RACE OF THE SEASON) "This is a great track to have a night race. It's a lot of fun to run on. Usually the groove moves up to where you've got two or three grooves during the race. It's cool to be able to move around on the racetrack during the race to find yourself a different groove."
(WHICH WOULD YOU LIKE BETTER: RUNNING 'HAPPY HOUR' TODAY, CLOSER TO THE TIME OF DAY THAT THE RACE IS HELD, OR PRACTICING TOMORROW, AFTER TONIGHT'S BUSCH RACE?) "For this race here, I probably like doing it today rather than after the Busch race. Some races are different. But this one here, I'd rather have some night practice than to not have any night practice and then race at night. I think this is good, but maybe what it should be is to have practice tonight and then maybe have 'Happy Hour' tomorrow."
"Some guys are going to want to run, some guys are not going to run. You might want to put a race motor in and make sure it's cleaned out to make sure nothing goes wrong with it. Right now we don't have time for that. But this is not too bad."
