May 05, 2001TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (7th):
(ON YOUR LAP) "It was a pretty good lap. I was kind of concerned with a couple cars spinning and everything. I didn't know what kind of conditions we had."
(HOW DID YOU FIND MORE SPEED ON YOUR SECOND LAP?) "I just tried to find a spot on the racetrack that wasn't as slick as what we had in practice. It was definitely a little bit slicker. We just wanted something in the top 10. That will get us a good pit selection.
"I think we've got a really good race car. I've been really happy with it since we came off the truck today. Every time the guys have made a small change today it's made a big difference on the racetrack with the way the car has driven. It gives me a really, really good feeling. I was smiling after the first [practice] run knowing that we've got a car that is driving really well, that feels really balanced and is really going to race well. I've got a lot of confidence in it right now."
