NHRA: Team Jeg's will focus on improving on second day

In the first session Troy rolled his Jeg's Mail Order Chevrolet Cavalier into the left lane. He blasted off of the starting and headed straight down the middle of the groove. Troy ran a 6.998 at 198.32 mph. He moved into the No. 14 position and will have three additional qualifying sessions to improve.

"We gained a lot of good data on the track and have a pretty solid baseline to tune the Jeg's Chevy Cavalier from. It always make a difference to make a good run right out of the trailer and not start behind the eight ball," explained Troy.

Reigning Pro Stock Champion Jeg Coughlin took on the right lane in the first qualifying session. The yellow and black bow tie launched from the starting line beams and headed to the big end. Jeg crossed the finish line running a 6.970 at 198.76 mph and ended up in the No. 8 spot after the first session. "We left some on the table during our first run. The Jeg's Chevy Cavalier felt good and it responded well to the transition. We have a good baseline to tune from and we are looking forward to being competitive all weekend," said Jeg.

The second session was held during the evening hours and is always the most important qualifying session of the weekend. If you make a good run Friday night it can be a real boost for the team for the weekend.

Troy was in the right lane for the second session. He slowly rolled into the stage lights. The bow tie darted off of the line and started its journey to the finish line timing lights. His run was an improvement and he ran a 6.953 at 199.35 mph. Troy moved into the No. 15 slot.

"The second run in the Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier felt a lot better. The car responded well all the way down the track. The more runs that we put on these new Cavaliers the more we learn about what they like in different conditions. I think that the conditions that we had today will be very close to what we will see for the rest of the weekend. We are off to a good start this weekend and we just need to keep focused," noted Troy.

Jeg moved over to the left lane during session two. He left the starting line glued to the center of the groove. Jeg also improved during the second session. He ran a 6.963 at 199.32 mph and ended up in the No. 19 spot.

"The car just felt like it nosed over down track. We will review all of the data from the run and check over the car before putting it to bed in the trailer for the night. I am confident that we can get this Jeg's Chevy Cavalier back in the top half tomorrow. We are learning a lot about what these new car like and we are making progress with each run," explained Jeg.
