CTS Corporation Wins Multi-Million Dollar Contract for Electronic Throttle Control Position Sensors
ELKHART, Ind.--May 3, 2001--CTS Corporation , a world leader in automotive position sensor and actuator technology, today announced that Visteon Corporation has selected CTS Automotive Products to supply throttle position sensors for two new Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Systems. The systems will be used globally on a wide range of vehicles. CTS Automotive Products previously provided initial deliveries of production-intent, prototype sensors, and is currently tooling for volume production which will begin in early 2002. Revenue for the combined multi-year programs will exceed several million dollars per year in new business for CTS.
ETC Systems are rapidly replacing conventional mechanical throttle bodies. ETC Systems provide closed-loop control of air intake, thus improving fuel economy, reducing emissions and enabling the use of other innovative technologies such as integrated cruise control and traction control systems.
Visteon Corporation selected CTS Automotive Products because CTS could offer custom sensor solutions, based on proven technologies, within the time frame that would meet Visteon's production schedules. Other selection factors included extensive sensor knowledge; a strong, long-term business relationship with the customer and CTS' global supply capabilities.
