B.C. Company Honoured For Sixth Time As A
General Motors Corporation "Supplier of the
Year"
OSHAWA, ON, May 2 - Pacific Insight Electronics Corp, of
Nelson, B.C., has been honoured as a General Motors "Supplier of the Year" for
the sixth time, having previously won the international award, beginning in
1995. The awards were instituted in 1992.
Pacific Insight Electronics, located on Lakeside Drive in Nelson,
manufactures daytime running lights for GM and was one of 2l Canadian
companies honoured. A total of 165 global suppliers of materials, equipment
and services to General Motors Corporation and General Motors of Canada were
named recipients of 2000 "Supplier of the Year" honours.
Steve Rose, GM of Canada's director, worldwide purchasing said that,
"This sets a record for Canada - the previous high was in 1999, when 19
Canadian companies were honoured. We are delighted that Canadian suppliers
represent almost ten per cent of the total number who have been honoured this
year. Awards went to companies in 20 different countries around the world."
He said that, "Winners are selected by a global team of experts from
purchasing, engineering, logistics and manufacturing who base their decisions
on total supplier performance in the areas of quality, service, technology and
price. Those who are honoured in this fashion can truly be described as world
class."
Bradley D. Smithson, Pacific Insight Electronics president, said that,

Products sold and leased through GM of Canada's 757 dealerships are:
Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Pontiac and Oldsmobile passenger cars and
Chevrolet and GMC light duty pickup trucks. Saturn, Saab and Isuzu products
are sold and leased through 63 members of a separate retailer network. More
