ENGLEWOOD, Colo.-SCCA Pro Racing has added six cars to those eligible for the Speedvision World Challenge GT category, effective immediately.

New eligible models include: Lotus Elise, Lotus Sport 190, Lexus GS 430, Subaru WRX, Steeda ST 460 and Porsche 928. The Porsche was previously eligible, but omitted from the initial 2001 class listing.

"We've had interest from several parties about classifying these cars, which will broaden the scope of the Speedvision GT Championship, and create more manufacturer interest," said Gary Perry, Speedvision World Challenge Technical Director.

In the same technical bulletin, issued May 1, the BMW E46 M3 gained 50 lbs., but was granted larger tires, going from 265/35R18 in the rear to 295/35R18. Additionally, the 55mm air restrictor placed on the Dodge Viper GTS has been removed all together. These changes follow a March 26 bulletin, in which the Acura NSX gained 100 lbs. and the Saleen SR 351 and Ford Mustang were granted the use of a spec rear wing.

The technical changes will debut at the May 18-20 Round Three event-the 100th in World Challenge history-at Mosport International Raceway.
