Delphi Names Greg White and Gabor Deak to Key Executive Positions

    TROY, Mich., May 2 Two executive appointments at Delphi
Automotive Systems were made today by Guy C. Hachey, president of Delphi
Energy & Chassis Systems; Paul J. Tosch, president of Delphi Saginaw Steering
Systems; and Volker J. Barth, president of Delphi South American operations.

    Gregory A. White is named director of the Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems'
Material Cost Improvement Process (MCIP) for North America.  In this newly
designated position, White continues to report to Hachey and remains a member
of the divisional executive staff.
    Gabor Deak succeeds White as managing director of South American
operations for Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems and Delphi Saginaw Steering
Systems.  Deak joins the Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems and Delphi Saginaw
Steering Systems executive staffs and the Delphi South American Strategy
Board.  Deak reports to Hachey, Tosch and Barth, respectively.
    To support Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems' MCIP for North America, the
following members will comprise a cross-functional team, to assist in
examining divisional material costs:
    -- Jeffrey M. Weatherall, will represent manufacturing operations,
reporting to White and to Patrick Straney, director of Canadian operations for
Delphi Energy & Chassis.  Previously, Weatherall was assistant plant manager,
manufacturing, Sandusky Operations.
    -- John C. Novak, will represent purchasing, reporting to White and to
George Mansfield, Delphi Energy & Chassis director of purchasing worldwide.
Novak has been managing the MCIP process for the purchasing function as well
as serving as the Delphi Energy & Chassis electrical commodity manager.  Carl
Snowden replaces Novak as the electrical commodity manager.
    -- Mina Cox, will represent production control & logistics (PC&L),
reporting to White and to Gary Berndt, Delphi Energy & Chassis director of
PC& L worldwide.  Cox will continue as PC&L manager of international
operations and human resource management.
    -- Lionel Johnson, will continue in his current position of manager of
MCIP for chassis engineering and will represent engineering on the MCIP team.
He will report to White and to Scott Bailey, Delphi Energy & Chassis director
of engineering worldwide.
    Prior to his most recent assignment as managing director of Delphi Energy
& Chassis Systems and Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems South America, White was
managing director of Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems South America.
    White joined the company in 1973 as a cooperative student at the Delco
Moraine Division.  He earned his bachelor's degree in 1978 and master's degree
in 1988 from the former General Motors Institute in Flint, Mich.  White has
held various positions during his career in manufacturing, engineering, sales
and international operations.  White has been in Brazil since 1996.
    As managing director for Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems and Delphi
Saginaw Steering Systems in South America, Deak is responsible for the overall
operations in the region.  Previously Deak was director of operations for
Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems and Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems operations
in South America, reporting to White.
    Deak joined Delphi with the acquisition of Lucas Diesel in early 2000
where he was the general manager of the Diesel Operations in South America.
As part of the regional reorganization in late 2000, Deak assumed the
responsibilities as director of operations for the Delphi Energy & Chassis
Systems and Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems in South America.
    Prior to joining Lucas in 1998, Deak held various positions in
engineering, quality, logistics, manufacturing, strategic planning, business
and new product development during his 23-year career with Maxion in South
America.
    Deak earned his mechanical engineering degree from the Politechnical
School of the University of Sao Paulo in 1973 and a post graduation in
business administration from the Getulio Vargas Foundation in 1978.
    All appointments are effective May 1, 2001.
