Volkswagen Reports April Results

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 2 Volkswagen of America reported
sales of 29,226 new cars in April in the United States, representing a 4.3
percent decrease over last year's sales of 30,546.

    It represents the second-best April sales for the German automaker in the
U.S. since 1977.

    For the year, Volkswagen has sold 104,253 cars versus last year's mark of
113,167.
