Audi Year-to-Date Sales Neck and Neck With 2000's Record

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 2 After a record first quarter,
Audi of America reported its second best April sales with 6,785, down 12.3
percent from the record set in April 2000 of 7,725.  Audi year-to-date sales
of 26,264 are up almost even with 2000 sales of 26,508.

    The Audi A4 was barely off for the month with sales of 3,085, down three
percent from April 2000.  Audi's award-winning TT posted April sales totaling
1,241 units, down 6.8 percent from last year's sales of 1,331.

    The A6, with 1,818 sold, was down from April 2000 when sales were 2,968.
The new Audi allroad quattro sold 429 for the month.  Audi's all-aluminum
flagship A8 reported a total of 212 sales.
